Albox

Situated in the north eastern part of Valle del Almanzora and 120km from the provincial capital, Albox is a market town spanning over 160km2.

Albox is a busy, small town with all amenities: various shops, tapas bars, restaurants, communal indoor pool and a medical centre. The main town is bisected by a dry river bed and has a large number of shops selling everything you could imagine. The street market takes place every Tuesday and is popular with many people from all over the region descending on the town to buy and sell their wares.

Albox owes its foundation and settlement to the Arabs (its name means 'tower' in Arabic) with a history widely linked to the medieval splendour of the Kingdom of Granada from the 13th century.

In recent years, the town has expanded with numerous new housing developments with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and countryside.
